Folding Micro Zines
Micro Vendor Zines » Devlog
I’ve been asked a couple of times how micro zines are made / folded after they’re printed. There’s an awesome instruction document available on itch, but it’s a better idea to integrate the instructions with the zines themselves. So, here they are:
A picture tells us more than a thousand words. This one is licensed through Creative Commons, meaning you can use it freely for your own content. For those interested, this is the best I could come up with when trying to explain it in text:
- Place the paper horizontally in front of you.
- Fold the paper horizontally.
- Cut the dotted line with a scissor.
- Unfold the paper.
- Fold the paper vertically, keeping the zine content of the outside.
- Fold the lines created in step 2 in opposite direction (this creates an extruded cross).
- Fold this shape into a zine, using its front- and back page as the covers.
The visual instructions have been added to every micro zine pdf. Printing them double-sided puts those instructions on the inside of the zine, which will be folded away.
Hope this helps,
Willem-Jan
